Location: Killington, VT

Type of Project

  • Recreational, Ski Area
  • Permit Programs

  • Act 250 Permit

  • Water Supply and Wastewater Disposal Permit
  • Project Details:

Since 1982 Enman Kesselring has had the pleasure of working for Killington Ski Area on their water and wastewater infastructure systems.

The scale of a small city, Killington’s infrastructure spans six mountain areas, and encompasses base lodges, office space, hotels, and condominiums developments.   Most buildings are served by their own public water supply system.  With the exception of Skyeship and Ski Shack, the wastewater from the base areas is collected to a central plant for treatment.  Some of this wastewater is used in the recycle system, some is discharged onsite, and the remainder is pumped over Pico to the Rutland Wastewater Treatment Plant.

    Facilities serviced include:

    • Killington Base Lodge
    • Snowshed Base Lodge
    • Rams Head Base Lodge
    • Bear Mountain Base Lodge
    • Skyeship Base Lodge
    • Shops at the Shack
    • Killington Grand Hotel

    Special Designs:

The Recycle Wastewater System was a collaborative design effort between Enman Engineering and Dubois & King.  This system saves 30,000 gallons of wastewater daily, treating the water to a high level allowing it to be recycled for use in base lodge toilets.

The Alpine Effluent Sewer allows Killington to pump wastewater over Pico mountain to the Alpine pipeline for discharge to the Rutland Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Killington Village Project – Water Supply Design to serve phase 1 of the village project.

Mirror Lake Pump Station – replaced in 2019 this pump station houses a 25 Hp and a 100 Hp pump, and pumps treated wastewater effluent to two spray disposal sites.  The 100 Hp system operates at a rate of 640 gpm and pumps water over to a disposal site 2.2 miles away.
